As Associate Director for Engineering Outreach and Public Engagement in The Grainger College of Engineering, Lara strives to build bridges between campus and community through STEM Education. She runs the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Program and serves as Interim Director of Community Partnerships for the Center for Family and Community Engaged STEAMM (FACES). She is a member of Grainger Engineering’s Diversity Committee and the campus Coordinating Council for Public Engagement. Lara is a three-time graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Education with a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with expertise in STEM teaching and learning. She serves on the Board of Directors for DREAAM and manages the McKinley Giving Garden in the summers. She enjoys reading, watching a good sci-fi drama, walking in the woods or on a beach, and solving a good puzzle.
